Telemundo anunció, hoy, que transmitirá la vigilia del Comité Amplio para la Búsqueda de la Equidad (CABE) en conmemoración del Día Internacional Contra la Homofobia, la Bifobia y la Transfobia este próximo domingo 17 de mayo a las 10:30pm.

Telemundo lo transmitirá simultáneamente por su canal de televisión y por su página web www.telemundopr.com. Por su parte, The Americano lo transmitirá a través de su página de Facebook.

“Telemundo siempre ha creído en la inclusión, el respeto y la dignidad humana. Es por ésto que nos enorgullece transmitir la Vigilia ‘El amor siempre vence: Ni un crimen de odio más’ por nuestro canal. Estamos comprometidos con fomentar un clima de amor al prójimo, solidaridad y empatía hacia todos los seres humanos”, aseveró José Cancela, presidente de Telemundo Puerto Rico.

Por su parte, Pedro Julio Serrano, portavoz de CABE expresó “nuestro más grande y efusivo agradecimiento a Telemundo por convertirse en el vehículo para transmitir un mensaje de respeto a las diferencias, a la dignidad humana, a la valía de cada ser que aquí vive. La epidemia de violencia homofóbica y transfóbica que azota a Puerto Rico tiene que parar ya. Las personas LGBTTIQ+ somos tan puertorriqueños, tan seres humanos, tan dignos como los demás. Merecemos vivir en equidad, justicia y libertad”.

La vigilia contará con la presencia de los artistas Ricky Martin, Olga Tañón, Kany García y Circo. Ricky Martin y Kany García ofrecerán mensajes a favor de la equidad, mientras Olga Tañón interpretará el tema “Alexa”. Por su parte, Circo presentará la canción “La tormenta”. Además, contará con testimonios de sobrevivientes y familiares de víctimas de crímenes de odio. Así como también tendrá la participación de activistas por los derechos humanos nacionales e internacionales.

“Esta vigilia nos da la oportunidad de presentar quienes somos las personas LGBTTIQ+. Somos gente diversa que contribuímos a nuestra patria y que exigimos vivir en una sociedad que nos reconozca, nos respete y nos celebre. Confiamos que la unión de nuestras voces sea un poderoso recordatorio de lo que podemos hacer cuando reconocemos la dignidad de cada ser humano”, dijo Amárilis Pagán, portavoz de CABE.

“En The Americano, hemos seguido de cerca las recientes muertes de Serena Velázquez y Layla Peláez y reportamos sus historias con entrevistas exclusivas con sus respectivas madres. Como un medio hispano en EE.UU., creemos que es imperativo el usar nuestra plataforma para darle voz a quienes buscan justiciar social. Estamos honrados de hacer alianza con Telemundo y CABE para transmitir esta vigilia virtual mientras seguimos educando a nuestra sociedad y seguimos apoyando a nuestra comunidad LGBTTIQ+”, dijo Cristy Marrero, editora en jefe de The Americano.

La vigilia se transmitirá, sin interrupciones —por espacio de una hora— este próximo domingo, 17 de mayo a las 10:30pm por Telemundo, Tu Canal. Además, podrá ser visto en línea a través de www.telemundopr.com, de la página de Facebook de CABE – el Comité Amplio para la Búsqueda de la Equidad y transmitido para la gente en EEUU por The Americano a través de www.theamericanonews.com.

Telemundo announced today that the network will broadcast the vigil of the Ample Committee in the Quest for Fairness (aka as CABE, following its initials in Spanish) in commemoration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, on Sunday, May 17, at 10:30 p.m.

The Americano will be co-broadcasting for the U.S. Hispanic audience on their Facebook Page.

“Telemundo has always believed in inclusion, respect and human dignity. This is why we are proud to broadcast the ‘Love Always Wins: Not One More Hate Crime’ vigil on our channel. We are committed to strengthening a climate of love toward our neighbors, as well as solidarity and empathy with all human beings,” said José Cancela, president of Telemundo Puerto Rico.

Pedro Julio Serrano, CABE spokesperson, expressed, “our greatest and most effusive gratitude to Telemundo for becoming a vehicle in the broadcasting of a message of respecting differences, human dignity, the worth of everyone who lives here. The epidemic of homophobic and transphobic violence that has hit Puerto Rico must stop now. We LGBTTIQ people are as Puerto Rican, as human, as dignified as everybody else. We deserve to live in fairness, justice and liberty.”

The vigil will be attended by artists Ricky Martin, Olga Tañón, Kany García and Circo. While Ricky Martin and Kany García will deliver messages about fairness; Olga Tañón will sing the song “Alexa.” Circo will present their song “La tormenta.” The evening will also include the testimony of hate-crime survivors and relatives of hate-crime victims, as well as the participation of national and international human rights activists.

“This vigil gives us the opportunity to show who we are as LGBTTIQ+ people. We are a diverse group that contributes to our country; we demand living in a society that recognizes, respects, and celebrates us. We trust the joining of our voices will be a powerful reminder of what we can do when we recognize the dignity of each human being,” said Amarilis Pagán, CABE spokesperson.
